City & Guilds is the leading awarding body for this qualification.

Target Group:

This qualification is appropriate for you if you hold managerial responsibility within the care sector and children and young People’s Services for example, a manager, deputy or assistant or advanced practitioners or Proprietor.

You will need to ensure that you are competent in the area you wish to manage and you meet the requirements of the awarding body. In order for you to enrol on the course, you must have a job role as a Manager or Deputies, Advanced practitioners in services such as homes for older people, people with learning disabilities, people with mental health problem and domiciliary / nursing care.

You will choose 1 of the following 6 pathways:

  • Children and Young People's Residential Management
  • Children and Young People's Management
  • Children and Young People's Advanced Practice
  • Adults' Residential Management
  • Adults' Management
  • Adults' Advanced Practice

Course Aim:

To provide you with the skills and knowledge to enable you to carry out your managerial roles and responsibilities up to the minimum national Standard.

Duration:

Leadership and Management of Care Services – There are no fixed period for completion, however depending on experience most participants complete within 12 months. The course consists of 1 full day Induction and 4 additional Workplace assessments by Crownlinks Assessor at a time convenient to you. Learner has additional option of attending various scheduled workshop as may be arranged from time to time by the Centre in our training room at Barking. Crownlinks Assessor will come to your workplace to observe you for a few hours on a single day for about three or four times.  Tutorial and feedback will be delivered on a one-to-one or group basis. You will also enjoy unlimited access to learning resources from Crownlinks Int. Virtual Learning Environments. Unlimited e-mail and telephone support throughout the duration of your award.

Please Note: Additional charges will be incurred if you exceed your Maximum of 12 Months target plan.

Course Content:

Each unit within the Diploma has a credit rating and to achieve the QCF Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care and Children and Young People learners must complete knowledge and competence units equalling an overall 80 credits. Learners must achieve 64 credits from the mandatory units and a further 12 credits from the 1st optional units selections and a remaining 4 credits from the 2nd optional unit selection.

All the pathways share 5 core units:

  • Use and develop systems that promote communication
  • Promote professional development
  • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Develop health and safety and risk management policies procedures and practices in health and social care or children and young people's settings
  • Working in partnership in health and social care, and children and young people's settings.

For each pathway, you will also need to complete a certain number of optional units. Examples of available units include:

  • Lead person-centred practice
  • Support individuals at the end of life
  • Manage finance in a health and social care or children and young people's setting
  • Explore models of disability
  • Understand the needs of children who are vulnerable and experiencing poverty and disadvantage
    Identify and act upon immediate risk of danger to substance misusers.

Assessment takes place through evaluation of work-based performance, presenting evidence, witness testimony and questioning. A portfolio of evidence is produced which demonstrates that the candidate can perform to the level described. Participants will all have a vocationally competent assessor who will help assemble the portfolio and prepare for assessment. In addition, candidates will have access to email and telephone support throughout their programme together with resources as required.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion you will be awarded a Leadership & Management in Care Services Award certified through City & Guilds. All successful Leadership & Management in Care Services Award certifications is subject to an external verification process conducted by the awarding body.

Demonstrating skills, knowledge and ability comparable to the level of competence required for the award. Identifying what you need to do to be fully competent.

Leadership & Management in Care Services Award normally costs £2,500 excluding VAT. However, for a limited period, the award places are currently available at a negotiable price. Please note: It is a requirement of the course is that you are observed at your workplace carrying out your managerial role and responsibility. If this is 25 miles or more from our training centre, an additional cost will be charged.

Health and Safety At Workplace Training

Level 2 Award in Health and Safety for the Workplace

This award is designed to give candidates a nationally recognized qualification whilst raising their awareness of Health and Safety in their workplace. Employers generally find that investing in a programme of staff training that leads to a nationally recognized qualification not only promotes staff morale and motivation but also acts as proof of investment in people and aids the creation of a risk management culture throughout the organization which can in some cases lead to reduced insurance premiums.

This Progression award is made up of 5 separate outcomes covering the need to understand the principles of Workplace Health and Safety; Understand the Method and objective of risk assessment; Understand accident and Incident investigation and reporting; Understand Health and Safety communication and the environment and the need to understand common hazards and their control. A course workbook will be filled in at the end of each unit and a risk assessment of your workplace will be carried out. In course assessments will be confirmed with an online exam taken at the end of the day 4.

For people who are in employment and for people who are not employed and want to improve their skills and enhances their opportunities in the job market.

Delivery, Assessment and Evidence.

This award can be delivered at either of our fully equipped training centers. If this is inconvenient then arrangements can be made for the course to be delivered at a more convenient location to you. For delivery method 1, the course is broken down into 5 manageable sections.

Learning Outcomes 1- 5: On-line Health & Safety Awareness; Classroom Based Delivery Handbook & Open Learning Course Workbook-

for successful students, Crownlinks Int. Training Network will cross-reference the underpinning knowledge gained from this course onto the level 2 course.

Open Learning Assignment Workbook - This handbook contains the majority of the practical assignments within the course and it is designed to allow students to work through while attending their work experience placement or work related learning. Doing the practical assignments in the workplace enhances the learning for the student. The handbooks are then assessed by Crownlinks Int. Training Network Assessor.

Classroom Based Delivery Handbook - This handbook contains the relevant bespoke Activities to support unemployed and inexperienced learners to benefits from classroom interactions and relevant practical assessment. The knowledge and assignments need to be delivered by a safety professional, hence the classroom delivery. This is also beneficial for learners with specialist needs

City & Guilds Multiple Choice Exam - This remains the same for both delivery methods. I hour duration in which students answer 40 questions with a pass mark of 70%. On successful completion of the above, students will receive the overall award and QCF Credit 1
